We are moving a client to a 3CX system from a mix of other systems - some that used 3 digit dialing, 4 digit, or 5 digit and consolidating to a 4-digit extension 3CX.

Wondering if I can help users who forget the new 4-digit system and dial a 3 digit number (or 5 digit) and fix it to dial the correct 4 digit number.

All former 3 digit numbers are in the new system with a 5 added as the first digit. i.e. x221 in old system becomes x5221 in the 3CX.

If someone forgets, and dials 221, I am wondering if I can prepend the 5 automatically to convert it to 5221 for processing.

I tried using Outbound Rules - if 3 digits dialed by anyone in the default group, strip 0 and prepend 5.
- However, the call just fails
- I tried with both a valid Trunk as first option as well as Block - but either way, it wont treat it as an internal extension
- I guess the rules literally only work for Outbound calls, not internal extensions

Hopefully I am explaining this OK...

Any thoughts? Not critical, just nice to throw in there if I can do it.

Regarding your question, there are no features to accommodate the internal dialing of incorrect digits I'm afraid.

Is it not possible to put the 4 digit number in the extension's SIP ID field anymore? That's how we have handle letting people dial "0" to get the internal operator, and I've used this setting in the past to handle this very challenge -- converting customers from 3 digit to a 4 digit extensions. Maybe that does not work anymore?

Not for 3cx hosted systems, as the option to enable the SIP ID is not available

Ah, that explains that! I didn't realize this was a hosted question. I need to train myself to always look :)

Thanks - I appreciate the answer, even though I am out of luck...
