Hi Everyone,

Does anybody knows how to completely prevent any user from deleting call records?
I need to keep all calls fr 5 years.

Regardsm

Yes, don't give anyone the password to login. If you need to protect yourself from yourself you need to use the CDR service, probably to a socket that offloads the CDRs somewhere immutable or with a defined audit process. If you don't want to roll your own solution then you can go with something by @voiptoys

As an admin you do have different levels of access to the PBX, you could try limiting that access to all those who you cant trust to delete the records.

You will need to check the admin levels and options under the extensions themselves.

Here is a link to the recording manager from VoIP Tools mentioned above, I have used this myself and it is a very solid product: https://www.voiptools.com/product/3cx-recording-manager-by-voiptools/

@eddv123

Does the recording manager also keep the CDRs since it seems the opt was asking about those and not necessarily the call recordings.

Hello @Ricardo Lima

To add to the above i would recommend backing up your data frequently to be able recover everything in case something goes wrong.

Just to clarify edd3123's suggestion, our Recording Manager keeps track of all RECORDED calls and has the ability to archive recordings for permanent retention. It does include some basic information of who the call was from / to, date, time and duration.

If you need more detail, as Coboltit asked, I would encourage you to look at our Exporter tool which can archive the CDR information for ALL calls.

While you could use the IP socket approach as suggested by Coboltit, that has the risk of losing some data if your socket connection goes down. A safer approach would be to have 3CX save the CDR information as text files and then parse the text files and save the data to a database. Using the text file approach ensures that even if your process goes down for a time, you can always catch up without losing any data.

Well, our audit requires none of the users can delete a call. Not even an administrator.
It would be nice if 3CX could implement that.

@Ricardo Lima
It would be nice if 3CX did everything everyone wanted. But I'd bet that 3CX + the appropriate product from Voiptools to accomplish this goal is probably cheaper/better than anything else you might come across. And keep in mind that protecting the CDRs is one thing, you would still need to archive and probably search them at some point which no PBX is going to do well, and you frankly don't want that load on your PBX anyways so the Voiptools solution would check all those boxes as well.
