Why don't they use the WebMeeting instead? That doesn't use SCs.
Once I need another app and cant dial into it from my cell phone why not use MS Teams

With all the license changes and shuffling, @Nick Galea Can we please get 32 sim applied to conference calls for enterprise licenses? As an example internally and some clients like to have weekly meetings but to purchase a 16 sim or 32 sim for a single weekly conference is a waste rather allow conference calls to exceed the sim limit to lets say 2x the regular limit. we started using teams and some client we had to setup with vodia. I want to keep it all in 3cx.

I'm so confused here.

You want 3CX, which is licensed by sim call, to give you free sims so you don't have to use another product? Or in other words, you don't want to buy what you need and instead you want to get it for free. And this is OK because it's only for occasional use (once a week).

Can I hire your company to do work for me? I will only use the work occasionally, so can you give it to me for free please?

Teams costs money too.

If 3CX isn't in the budget don't buy it.

The cost to upgrade from 8SC Enterprise to 32SC Enterprise works out to about $96 per month. Not that much, if that is what you need.

:) you can take the feedback and improve the experience for conference calls on your platform or you can laugh and will continue to use 3cx with all the great features we gladly pay for and enhance it by allowing conference calls to exceed the limit not all other use cases. It's common to have a higher limits on conference calls hence the higher limit on webmeetings.

Teams is free and included with our 365.

Your suggestion is pay $96 per month to have a conference call on 3cx vs a conference bridge at Vodia for $5? Or teams for free because my request to have higher limits on conference calls vs everyday use case is like asking something for nothing? I don't see it that way

You can have conference calls all day long on 3CX and not pay any additional. Vodia is not free. Teams is not free as you must have the correct paid license. I suppose you can ask for an increased limit for conference calling, but then there can be issues with SIP trunks being able to burst beyond the normal SC count. (Some use per channel trunks, and not metered.) 3CX allows many more connections when using web meetings. We have thousands of extensions and I have only a handful of times needed to increase a clients SC size only to handle conference call bursting. They all gladly paid the extra because it was still much less than the alternative conference calling systems they were using. One saved over $300 per month.

Right if you have a setup that saves you money it's a no brainer... we and our clients have options that are zero added cost it would just be a preference to allow dialing in and keeping it all on 3cx. If you are trying to use the same headset connected to your desk phone to have a weekly meeting with 10 users required a 16 Sim when the 10 users are never all on the phone otherwise.

That's pretty much what WebMeeting is for - but I get the headset thing. To solve that, I use a Yealink WH63 headset that is connected to my desk phone AND my computer. Same headset for 3CX calls, WebMeeting, Teams, Zoom.

Hello

Well paying is actually the easiest option! As you said, this will keep the things as they are!
Sorry for not mentioning it, as I assume a student would not be willing to spent money for this.

The purpose that we made the StartUp is to cater for small installations with up to 10-20 Extensions.
So it should be a perfect fit for you arrangements!

Now whether you want to test the startup or just pay for your existing installation is up to you to decide!
AndreasA_3cx,

Thank you for your help!
re: renewing my current system for $150 for the next year, I read a post by you
to another user that said:

[ quoting AndreasA ]
Currently is still possible to renew your existing 4SC standard key with just the 3CX hosting.

However this option would soon be going away and you will need to upgrade/renew to Pro.
[ end of quote]

If this is true, will paying $150 last for a whole year?

And, I also read that StartUp Free does not support SIP phones! I have some of these running
through a 3cx SBC local installation on Linux, and would really not like to lose this capability...

Thanks for listening ( and having the answers, too..)

Phil

Andreas, I have a little emergency!
I just went to my account in the customer portal to renew my license ( $150 ), and it would not let me do so.
A dialog popped up with only 2 choices - upgrade ($296) or find a partner.
Now this is new, I've never seen this before - it always gave the amount as $150, and a route to paying it.

There was a red dot next to my system ( ?early parking?) But I made a test call, and it worked perfectly.

It's an emergency because my license expires in 14 hours - 11am tomorrow morning ( It's 9pm here now ).

Can you help? Thank you..

Phil

@phil, The cost to renew is $296 - The PRO license and then the hosting. If you want to use a free product you have to use 3CX StartUP. If you want the license only its cheaper indeed but then you have to host it yourself or install it on premise.

Does "PBX - StartUP Free" support voicemail to e-mail option? By default it sends missed call notifications and received voicemail notifications but does not include the voicemail file itself. There are no settings to enable that I could find.
Thanks.
