I wanted to make sure the x-employee didn't have any access to our phone calls through the app on her phone.
I thought the best way was to delete the Ext# and re-add it for the next person.

What is the correct / proper way to do that? We've only had 3CX for a couple of months now and I 'thought' I was doing it right.

I deleted the extension and then while trying to re-add the extension I can't assign it to the same DID number. What did I do wrong?

3CX Professional 16.0.6
Grandstream GPX-2135

The reason why this is happening is because, when you select a DID for an Extension, in the background 3CX creates and Inbound Rule for you.

When you delete the extension, the Inbound Rule remains, although it is left with "End Call" options.

All you need to do is create the new Extension.
Then, to assign the DID, go to "Inbound Rules", find the DID that has already been create from the initial user, then set it to route calls to the new Extension.
