I just provisioned a new phone. Did not work instantly using RPS. So I manually entered the configuration URL of the 3cx pbx which was automatically generated. Provisioning worked ok. But when I later looked on the configuration I saw that in the Phone (yealink T58) the FQDN of the pbx was enterered as FQDN for the STUN server.
I have doubts this will work, I entered a different STUN servers address in the phone.
How should this behave?

Why did you think that was wrong? Was something not working?

the pbx does not run an stun server, and even if it would, there is no open port for 3478 mapped to the pbx.
It does work however, but I think it is not correct and may lead to trouble later.

Can you please show me where the config says it was using port 3478?

There is no port number shown, therefore I assume it is the default port.
But I will do a wireshark dump - the phone has a built in tcpdump, then I will know what happens exactly.

If you provision the phone using STUN, then the phone STUN Server/STUN Port contain the FQDN and SIP Port of your PBX. The 3CX PBX is acting as STUN server for external extensions. This is by design.

You said you looked in the configuration. Are you talking about the web interface or via the config button in 3CX which shows the config file? Either way the port is most definitely listed in there and it's not the default.

I only looked in the phones Web-UI. And there was only a hostname, the FQDN of the server.
But now, I looked in the config and there is 5060 as the port for STUN, and after checking again the phones UI a little more thoroughly I also see there 5060 as the port.
Thank you for insiting in checking again what I saw!

somone please mark this topic as solved and I might need new glasses.
