Hi there,

I run a 3CX lab and I try to provision a T41S phone.

I have the supported firmware on the phone
I have reset it to factory default

But he doesn't appear in the phones tab. (I have followed the guide : https://www.3cx.com/sip-phones/yealink-t4-series/ )

I can connect to the phone interface
The server and the phone are on the same switch and same network
SIP port used by PBX is 5060

I don't understand...

I've tried to add it manually with his mac adress and link it to my extension but I doesn't work.

When I plug the phone to the switch, he boot and I have this messages on the screen :

  1. sending provision requests
  2. Update skipped !

Then the phone is booted and show "Warning no service" on the screen.

Any idea ?

Are you using VLANs? If so, make sure your switch ports are well-configured so the phone can go to its designated VLAN and then contact the PBX.

Thanks for your reply.

The 3CX server & the phone are on the same switch where no vlan's are configured...

Have you tried manually putting the URL in the Provisioning config. Please try that. If it works, factory reset and retry. If not, try provisioning in STUN to make sure it can receive a config (using RPS).

I've tried to add the phone manually and I have received this provisionning link : http://192.168.1.43:5000/provisioning/0ycxvt88cli

When I click on it, I got error 404.

Then, I choose "Direct SIP (STUN - remote) as provisioning method then I restart the phone : not better...

Remove the phone config from 3cx , restart your server (you should be configuring as local lan and not stun if you where to manually config the phones)

Factory default the phone, hopefully you should see the phone appear in phones where you can manually assign it to an extension.

What is the setup of your test lab ?

The phone isn't showing up as per his OP. That's why I suggested trying STUN to see if the RPS would work, then he can simply reprovision using the local IP.

The link won't work in a browser since the phone requests a file in that directory.

You need to put that link on the phone's web UI in Settings -> Provision -> Config URL, then click "Provision now".

If the phone is not showing up after a factory reset then try running the firewall checker first and then factory resetting/rebooting the phone. Sometimes 3CX stops listening for multicast and running the firewall checker fixes that. Also confirm you only have one network interface on the 3CX box.

Also , is it a completly new phone? not a second hand with previous config ?

Hi there, I will respond to all your questions :)

  • It's a brand new phone
  • I have provisionned it by adding the url manually in the phone config, it work well now
  • My lab setup :
The 3CX server and two physical phones are connected to the same switch in the range 192.168.1.x
The 3CX server had a 2nd NIC connected to an other switch with a router in the range 192.168.2.x . There is only one PC connected to this network, no phones.

I want to be sure that I can have 2 separate network working together : 1 isolated network for the phones, the 2nd to have the 3CX app on the PC's.

- The 2 NIC's of the 3CX server have fixed ip adresses

So, the manual provisionning work but not the automated. Why ? And how can I fix that ? (It will be easyer to provision the phone like it is explained here : https://www.3cx.com/sip-phones/yealink-t4-series/)

Make you life easy just have one network card to connect the 3cx to your network - the 3cx app needs to communicate with the phones

How many phones are you going to deploy

I would like to have a separate internet connection for the phones.

At this time, I experienced some problems due to a high jitter on the line but the IPBX is not on site (cloud IPBX from OVH, the phones are connected directly to the network).

So, how can I provision my Yealink phones easily ? I will do some search or open a new topic about the best network configuration :)

I am confused about your setup

Is the 3cx hosted locally or hosted in the cloud.

High jitter on what line ?

What are your internet speeds ? How many internet links do you have

We need precise and full information ,so that we can help you

So, this topic is about the problem with "normal" provisionning of a Yealink T41s :)

But, there is my story :

I have 9 Sip line where the PBX is hosted & managed by OVH. They send me preconfigured phones that I connect on the network.
At the beginning, those 9 lines where on the same network than the PC's & printers and there was a lot of quality problem with the phones. The pc which use internet where causing jitter on the xDSL line.

So, we have now a second connection with an other ISP. We have a 2nd switch where only the phones & the router from the 2nd ISP are connected. This solved the quality issues.

But, and this is why I try 3CX, those lines are expensive and we are growing. With 3CX, I reserve a SIP trunk and I configure the server by myself. This is far less expansive...

In this setup, I've tried to keep the phones isolated on 1 internet link but make the server communicate with the PC to keep the benefits of the 3CX pc app. This don't work because the phones can't communicate with the pc's :) .

So, I will do some search or open a new topic on how to correcly configure the 3CX server with 2 internet connections, which hardware to choose etc etc...

You would normally setup your internal network to use two internet connections at the firewall / router level. You setup rules to push traffic down the required internet connection. You setup 3cx with one network card only.

What routers do you have ?

As you have two internet connections, guessing you have two routers. On the router that will be used as your main internet connection, you may be able to add static routers to push traffic across to the second router. If this is possible you will have to manually add routes for you sip provider and all of 3cx servers.

We use DrayTek firewalls without any issues, as there can handle multiply wan connections and have the necessary setup to route traffic down the correct link

Or you simply keep a flat network and make life easy. Let's say you have two routers, one at 192.168.1.1 and then put the VoIP one at 192.168.1.2 (or .254 if you prefer). Then you configure 3CX with a static IP and give it the VoIP circuit as the gateway. The rest of the network can DHCP the other circuit. Problem solved with minimal configuration.

Yep, there is 2 routers, one for each ISP.

ISP A : router is DHCP 192.168.1.1
ISP B : router is DHCP 192.168.0.1

What if I disable DHCP on router B, change his adress to 192.168.1.150
Then, on the 3CX server, I choose 192.168.1.200 for IP and 192.168.1.150 for gateway.

Will it work ?

Or does I need a 3rd router with 2 WAN ports ?

@cobaltit : I was writting this post when you reply :) If I understand well, you advise to do what I say in this post ?

Yep, disabling DHCP one router B and then configuring as you describe will work. 3CX will send traffic to router B, all other traffic will use router A
