Publish Ring group extension

Is it possible to publish the extension number of a ring group to the People view in the web client?

Nope, they are system numbers and not users one's

You could make a group that publishes to all
Create extension called Ring Group A and set up call forwarding to Ring Group A and add to group

We tried that but the extension has to be online and needs to be logged in to appear in the address book.
If no one is logged in to the placeholder extension then it doesn't appear.
Basically it is a team that are in a ring group and would like that ring group extension published, so that the rest of the company can call 1 number and get through to anyone in that department.

Have you tried creating a contact instead?

Or you could create a new group with your ring group contacts in. They will be able to see the group in "people" - Call it Group <EXT>

Actually I can do this, so there's actually no problem.

Yep, creating a contact also doesn't show under the People tab of the web client.
You can find the number if you search but most end users don't do that, they look through the People list and find the number.
It does seem strange that you can't make an extension number (even if it is virtual) visible.
