Hi,

I am trying to setup 3cx (latest, running on OVH public cloud VM) so that it can push backup to an SFTP server (also another host running at OVH)

Right now what I've got

SFTP server is - using atypical port for SSH/SCP/SFTP connectivity.
I can connect via putty/SSH as service-account-user / password - no problem - and can create files in user homedir
I can connect using Mozilla via SFTP if I designate IP, Port, User, Pass, no problem

I then setup 3cx backup 'location' for SFTP and it takes the settings. Then I try a backup job, and I get error sent via email in <1min or so, approx thus:

Your 3CX backup failed due to the following reason(s):
Renci.SshNet.Common.SftpPermissionDeniedException: Permission denied
at Renci.SshNet.Sftp.SftpSession.RequestOpen(String path, Flags flags, Boolean nullOnError)
at Renci.SshNet.Sftp.SftpFileStream..ctor(ISftpSession session, String path, FileMode mode, FileAccess access, Int32 bufferSize)
at Renci.SshNet.SftpClient.Open(String path, FileMode mode, FileAccess access)
at _3cxFilesystemImplementations.SFTP.SftpFileSystem.CreateFile(String filename)
at ManagementConsoleJS.Services.BackupService.Backup(BackupDescription backupDescription)

Quick dig in forum, I found another thread
https://www.3cx.com/community/threads/3cx-sftp-backup-to-aws-s3.70847/#post-313722

Which had these hints: as a workaround:

Go to Settings -> Parameters
Click "Add", enter the name ALWAYS_USE_TMP_FILE_FOR_BACKUP with value 1 then save.
Restart config server service
Try a backup again

Alas, this did not fix it

I have tweaked the way I designate the SFTP stanza line config in 3cx,
tried the sftp stanza with lagging slash, did not help
tried with sftp://user@ip:port and that did not help

ie, should I be using the SFTP stanza config line ... ?

sftp://192.99.XX.YY:9792
or
sftp://192.99.XX.YY:9792/
or
sftp://[email protected]:9792
or
sftp://[email protected]:9792
or
sftp://[email protected]:9792/home/service-account-username
etc etc ?

I am curious if anyone is doing SFTP backup from 3cx / if you can share hint re: was it necessary to designate any/full path on the end of the SFTP stanza? Lagging slash? user as part of the stanza? no user? something else? It is just frustrating and there are no errors logged server side so I am having trouble figuring out why the data push is failing from 3cx.

any pointers are greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

Tim

This error is generated from your SFTP so you need to check from this side and identify why is rejecting the connection.
Keep in mind that the PBX parameters should not be altered unless it is advised from the 3CX Technical Support.
