I signed up for free on Feb 24th 2020 but did not install until last week. I saw the new March 13th offer before I installed but figured a free key is a free key. Later I noticed that my version expires in a year. So I went and signed up for the new offer using my corporate address and got a new key. This one says it is good for the 3 years. When I tried to replace the key I got this:

"This key is a free key and cannot be used to replace your current license key. Only commercial license keys can be used to replace existing keys."

So if we signed up (even a short time) before the new offer we cannot take advantage of it? Please let us know if that is the case or if there is a way around the above.

Take a backup WITHOUT the license key. Release your domain from the customer portal. Reinstall restoring from backup specify the new key. You should be good to go. It should take less than 10 minutes the whole process.

I don't think it's that complicated. Pretty sure 3CX is not hand managing all the keys. Did you check your license expiration page? But as far as I can tell ALL free licenses have been extended till 12/30/2022. I imagine once your license passes the 40 day Pro trial mark it will reflect that if it doesn't already

Be careful on this... licenses are tied to the email address you sign up with, you must use a unique email address in this case or it will bind the previous license based on the email address you previously used effectively negating the new offer...
