Question regarding Yealink Configuration Steps

Hi all,

Apologies for the daft question, but could anyone let me know the steps a Yealink phone goes through to pull its Config file down from 3CX when it's first plugged into the network?
With our old CUCM set up, new phones would retrieve their TFTP config due to DHCP providing it with the required IP addresses via Option 150. That's not the case with our 3CX environment.
We have 3CX set up on our private Azure, and we have an SBC in our HQ server room. We add the desk phone to 3CX via it's Model and MAC address, and then select the provisioning option of '3CX SBC remote'. It all works as it should just fine, but I just want to know how.
Do the phones send out some kind of broadcast message when first plugged in and the SBC is listening for them and responds?

Hi,

3CX will send your MAC and provisioning URL to Yealink's RPS server.
(you will see it in our event log)

Upon startup, your phone connects to Yealink RPS and pulls the URL, then goes to 3CX and pulls the actual config.
(you will also see it in our event log)

So basically RPS takes care of business, without the need for DHCP options.

Brill, thanks for that. I remember reading about the Yealink RPS but wasn't sure if that's what was happening for our provisioning method.
