Real-Time Data Extraction and Structuring for Reports

Hi,


I wanted to check if it is currently possible to structure the data received through 3CX into a database format to generate standardized reports, at least until we have the Power BI solution from 3CX.


Since automated reports can already be shared after a certain period, is there a way to extract this data in real time and organize it in a designated location to function as a database or in a custom-designed format?


Please confirm if this is feasible with the existing setup.

Yeah just use the API to pull the data and put it into a database or whatever you need.

can you share details on how the API is set up and used? Specifically: authentication method, key endpoints, response format, data fetching (real-time or batch), and error handling. If there’s any documentation, that would be great

Another option is to look at our 3CX Exporter tool. Our tool replicates ALL the data 3CX uses to generate their built-in reports to either SQL Server, MySQL or MariaDB. From there you can use your preferred reporting tool to create custom reports (Power Bi, Crystal Reports, Excel, etc.).

Rather than running reports directly against the live data in 3CX, with the potential to consume significant resources on the 3CX server, our approach ensures no matter how complex your report is, or how much history you have, reports will NEVER impact the performance of 3CX. With power (3CX API) comes responsibility, and potential risk.

With our tool, you specify the frequency of replication. The default setting is every 60 seconds, but you can adjust the frequency to more closely meet your specific needs. We also replicate the 3CX CDR files in real-time. It's a great source of summary data for every call. If your needs are simple, the CDR data alone may be all you need.

Further, one of the nice things about the replication approach is that it has nearly zero impact on 3CX. Exporter only replicate the new data, so the replication happens nearly instantly. In contract, using the 3CX API approach has the potential to impact your 3CX resources every single time you query the data. The more history you have, the more work 3CX has to do.

Finally, because your historical data is replicated to a separate database, now you can truncate your 3CX history without actually losing any data. This makes your 3CX run more efficiently. In other words, you get to have your cake and eat it too.
