I came across this post regarding incoming faxes being sent to email of a user's extension (as long as extension had a valid email).

https://www.3cx.com/community/threads/fax-to-mail-configuration.49431/

Either I'm missing a step somewhere or this feature is no longer available since I am not able to get this to work.

I have an extension 002 with an email listed on extension. The extension exists for no other purpose other than having faxes sent to the email, but I have tested this on a regular user account. I went to the Incoming Rules and modified the DID's setting for Route calls to -> Destination for calls during office hours -> Send fax to -> 002 ([email protected]).

It is my understanding that the Fax Server settings don't play a role in this feature other than being the catch all for Send fax to in Inbound Rules.

What am I missing?

You're setup sounds about right.

First few things I recommend doing if you haven't done so already is:

1. Have the Inbound rule route to the main fax server extension: 888. Does it work?

2. Go into "Settings >> Email" and run the SMTP test, does that work?

3. Try sending a "Welcome email" for extension 002, does the user receive the email?

Thanks. Our clients SMTP server hosted on Server 2019 VM crashed recently and we migrated everything over to their backup server which resides at a different IP address. The PBX was missed in the audit to update SMTP, DNS, and in some cases DHCP. You're recommendations led me to see that the SMTP needed to be updated to point to the appropriate server. This has resolved not only faxes, but a number of other issues.

Brilliant! Glad I could help!
