We are unable to receive faxes from an external source to our 3cx system.

Our configuration is Phone line -> SPA3102 -> 3CX

I have configured a PSTN device in 3cx and set it to send fax to email of extension 888. We do not need to send faxes from this line, only receive them. I have been working with linksys and according to them the SPA3102 configuration looks correct. In the SPA3102 on the PSTN line tab i have this configuration:
network Jitter = Very High
Jitter Buffer = Disable
Silence Supp enable = No
Echo Canc Enable = No
Echo Canc Adapt Enable = Yes
Echo Supp Enable = No
Fax CED Detect Enable = Yes
Fax CNG Detect Enable = Yes
Fax Passthru Codec = G711u
Fax Codec Symmetric = Yes
Fax PassThru Method = ReINVITE
Fax Process NSE= Yes
Fax Disable Ecan = No

The 3cx system is answering the call, but immediately hanging up. Here is part of the log for a call:

Has anyone been able to get this type of configuration to work? If any more information is required, just let me know.

Any help will be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Have you set T.38 enable to yes? This links gives the detail of how to configure a 3102 for FAX http: //www.3cx.com/sip-phones/linksys-spa-3102-fax/ No longer available. New link: http://www.3cx.com/sip-phones/

Does that help?

Thanks for the quick reply.

I have reviewed that document before, and as far as I can tell, this document is just for sending faxes through Line 1. We do not need to send faxes. We only need to receive faxes through the PSTN line, so I currently have line 1 disabled.

Correct me if I am wrong with this configuration, but as far as I can tell, I shouldn't have to use Line 1 just to receive faxes.

Any other idea's?

Thanks

There is a FAX enable T38 in the PSTN Line tab, is that set to yes? I would also try changing (playing with) the FAX Passthru Method and the FAX Disable ECAN. This feature ( F D E) turns off the echo canceller if a fax tone is detected, when set to yes.
Also check the FAX Tone detect Mode, it should be caller or callee or caller only.

On the PSTN line tab I do not have the FAX Enable T38 or the FAX Tone Detect Mode options. I do however have them on the Line 1 tab.

Just for reference I am running Software Version: 5.1.10(GW) and Hardware Version: 1.4.5(a) on the SPA3102.

I'll see what happens when I set FAX Disable ECAN to YES though.

Thanks for the help.

If you don't have the Linksys Admin guide, you should be able to get it here. http://www.belldandy.idv.hk/wordpress/index.php/2010/04/linksys-ata-pdf/

Hi all,

i have exactly this same scenario. anybody found solution ?

Hi,
Have you tried turning windows firewall off? That can block the port which 3CX uses for Fax to E-mail
