1: Temporary vs. Archive Location in 3CX

If we enable the Recording Archiving option under System > Storage > Enable Recording Archiving and set the archive retention to 30 days, does this mean:
  • The recordings will remain in the Temporary Recording Location (found in Settings > Temporary Recording Location) for 30 days before being automatically moved to the Archive Storage?
  • Or will the recordings stay in the Archive Folder for 30 days instead of the temporary location?

2: Impact of "Delete Temporary Recordings Older Than XX Days" Setting

What happens to the recordings based on the setting for "Delete Temporary Recordings Older than XX Days" in the Temporary Recording Location section:
  • Will this setting override the archiving process, and if so, will recordings be deleted from the temporary location before they are archived?
  • How does this deletion setting interact with the Recording Archiving process and retention times?

3: Achieving a 30-Day Retention on the Server and 90-Day Archiving

We would like to configure our system so that:
  • Recordings stay on the server for 30 days before being archived.
  • Recordings remain in the archive for 90 days.
How can we set this up in 3CX to achieve this process effectively?

Hello,

1. When set to 30 days:
- recording will stay on the local disk for 30 days and then will be moved to archive;
- it will stay in archive until manually deleted.

2. When remote rec archiving is on, this setting is no more in effect. It is even disabled in UI.

3. This cannot be achieved. Additional auto deletion from archive should be a new feature request in the Ideas forum.

You may want to take a look at our 3CX Recording Manager. We provide two retention policies, one for the original recording, and a separate policy for the archived recordings. With our tool, all recorded calls are instantly archived as soon as the call is complete. Then, daily, we look at the separate retention policies to determine when to delete the recordings from the 3CX server, and separately the archive. As a result, your 30 and 90 day policies are absolutely supported.

A couple of side-notes to mention -- our archives are converted to MP3 and compressed to 1/4 of the original size. This means no noticeable loss of audio quality, and no playback compatibility issues. Also, when preparing to delete the original recording, we first confirm the archive exists and if it is missing for any reason (someone manually deleted the archive) we will first archive and then delete the original.

You may also want to look at our enhanced built-in AI functions :)
