Hi,

I'm trying to take over a 3CX install from another partner. The credentials they've provided me aren't working. They've said they haven't touched the PBX in a couple of years, so I expect it was a free standard licence that has now expired.. They've sent me the backup file, but it looks like you can't extract the password from the xml file anymore? Is that correct?

So I'm basically looking at a re-install and restore at this stage? Can anyone confirm?

Does the restore procedure restore the credentials also?

That is correct you can no longer get this information from the backup.
What is the exact version of the PBX?

Hi Theodoros.
The backup is reporting it is 18.0.9.20

They will need to reset the password using the email address of the System Owner extension. Have you tried this option?

I would assume that no extension has been made a system owner, besides the admin user (as it hasn't been accessed since that change was brought in)

So I've only tried using the admin user to reset, as no other user would have admin rights.

This was also requested to be completed before updating the PBX. Besides the warning banner on each PBX installation there was also a blog post released which explains the steps: https://www.3cx.com/blog/releases/v18-update-9/
You may also create a support ticket to check this further.

I agree.. Except it wasn't my client at the time, so I had no import into this.

I can't also create a ticket as the FQDN doesn't belong to me yet, because I can't change the partner ID in the PBX until I gain access.
It wont let me create a ticket with a FQDN it doesn't find.

This means that the PBX is not assigned to your partner id. I would suggest that you contact with your Sales Representative first and then contact support.

I know its not.. It's a customer that is migrating to me.. But since I can't get into the PBX, I can't change the assigned partner ID.

I'll see what I can do via Sebastian Havvas

Note that from the Dashboard the customer can link the PBX to your Partner ID as well:

I dont believe they have transferred the ownership to the customer either.. They had it registered to an alias of their own domain.
