I recently started receiving the following warning after the update:

1691492953479.png

When I click the "More Info" button, it redirects me to this page:

https://www.3cx.com/docs/free-subscription-registration/

Which is just a tutorial on how to change the email on file *If the email does not belong to me*. My account is registered, and my email belongs to me, and I have double-checked to make sure that all of my contact information is correct, but the warning is still there. Is there something else that I need to do?

Hi, do you have multiple license keys assigned to this email? You can only have 1 3CX FREE per email/user.

I'm having the same problem. My license status is activated and I do not see anywhere to "register". I setup the system a couple of years ago and this just started to happen. I even went so far as to update my email address in the system, verify it and refresh my license status, all to no avail. I'm on V18 Update 8.

I'm getting the same request, and I only have one subscription showing on my online account..! Is this a generic message to check that there is a registered account? or is there an actual issue with the subscription?

Hi, please refer to our blog post The new rules to keep/register the 4SC Free subscription.https://www.3cx.com/blog/news/4sc-free-subscription/

As long as you have made sure that the criteria on the article have been met, then your system will automatically be extended at the end of the year.

You might also find this document helpful in making sure the subscription is correctly registered https://www.3cx.com/docs/free-subscription-registration/

Hi Michael,

Thank you for the information. How do we get rid of the "Free Edition" banner? Will it go away automatically once Registration has been completed successfully? How can we check Registration status? I have 1 key registered to my company that I know about; is there a way to check if there are others? It's possible I have a second key from when I initially installed and tested the system, so how can I check that?

Thank you.

Well I have been over the docs and all my info, etc seems to be in order.. The banner remains, so I will assume that it will renew as per the line in blog

If the registered email belongs to your company, and the expiration date is 31st December, 2023, then no further action is needed. At the end of the year, your 3CX FREE will be extended until 31st December 2024.

Yes, this is correct. If you have done as advised in line with the blog, then no further action is needed and your Free key will be extended even though the banner remains.

I would recommend you engage our customer service agents via the live chat to assist you with finding the second key and making sure of this.

I too have one customer experiencing this, and they are the registered user and valid, company-domain registered email address on the system.

Update from my end:

In response to my previous post (#6) to which I'm replying:

I received some answers from Live Chat, and they are as follows:
The "Free Edition" banner will go away after Dec 31, 2023 assuming you are registered correctly.
The banner will NOT go away until the end of the year, regardless of if you are currently registered correctly, or not (so get used to that watermark...)
If it says in your Phone System Management Console that you are registered, than you are registered.
The only way to check if you have multiple keys (I did not) is to ask Live Chat for them to check on your behalf.

I hope the above helps someone else.

Thanks to Michael for steering me to Live Chat.

Best regards,

CK

The banner appearing on the 3CX client is bothersome due to its placement. It covers the attachment and emoji icons, although not completely, and I receive a message that its placement is unfortunate.

As a customer, they can log in to the portal > 'My systems' > under the 'Product' tab they can see the Free Standard licenses attached to their customer email 1691648747577.png

As for partners, they can access the 3CX partner portal > click 'My systems > set the parameter to 'My subscriptions' and they can see all the 3CX Standard licenses attached to the partner email. Please see the screenshot for reference:

Thank you, I verified with the customer in their 3CX customer portal they only have one license listed - their live phone system. I trust this means they'll be OK.

Well this is very unfriendly. Having a Registration Required! Warning, when the system is registered, confuses everybody. It means a lot of work is invested in this to verify the registration procedure, search the forum to find that it is just a sloppy message.

We are providing a Free subscription and extending the validity for customers with correct registration.
The banner is to ensure that all users of the Free subscription pay attention and correctly register their license so we can extend it accordingly or else the customers' phone system will be affected.
Investing a bit of your time to make sure that a Free subscription is correctly registered should not be an issue. The banner will remain for all until the extension of the Free subscriptions.

Leaving the banner up, even when the license is valid, will actually lead to more prospective paying customers getting annoyed and / or finding out, with no notice, and likely reduced staff around to resolve the issue, that their license was actually invalid on 31 Dec.

Hi Alan, the prospective paying customers are using the Free version for months or years, they have no reason to be annoyed, they should be in PRO already! If you upgrade their subscription to PRO the banner will disappear. :)

You must be right - 3CX.com always knows and understands the end customers better than the partners ever will.

In reality however, those customers will still convert to paying customers, it just won't be with 3CX, they will go with another option instead.

3CX will see that as proof they knew better all along - free users don't often become paying customers.
