Hi,

I've been getting this email with subject line "Reminder: Upgrade now for new SSL certs!" for sometime now.
The mail says

"3CX will be updating the SSL certificates which are required to activate the PBX, and allow secure connections between your installation and our cloud services. These certificates expire every 2 years and are due to be replaced on the 15th September.

You will need to upgrade your free installation to version 16 Update 5/6 before the 15th September 2020 in order to keep using the free standard version of 3CX. You can do this in under 30 minutes from the 3CX Management Console."

We are on 3cx version 16.0.5.619 and its on premise
Can I ignore the email?

Thank you.

We dont use 3cx certificates

So sorry for you , if you choose the painfull way with custom certs you need to do this by your own .
Not enough advanced knowledge on this to help you more

I dont think you understood my question. Anyway thanks.

@JohnS_3CX can you please checck and let me know if there is something that has to be done?
We are already on Update 5, i believe. Also, is this mail regarding hosted pbx or does the "on-premise " installs also have to check this?

You use a pbx STD free version with your own certs and want to know if you are concerned by email you received about free installation change occuring 15 of september , that's it ?

You will need to update to the latest build - this isnt related to your custom certs.

It'll be the certificate used for the activation server which is expiring.

Updating your 3CX will ensure you have the renewed certificate required - if you dont update, your 3CX wont be able to contact the activation server which will more then likely lead to issues on your PBX.

Okay, thank you for clarifying that.
We are already on v16 update 5, 3cx version 16.0.5.619.
Thats why my question. Whether i need to upgrade?
Or are we fine?

No, we are not using a free version. We have a pro license.
I would like to know whether i need to upgrade as it says you need to be on Update 5/6, update 5 seems to have so many versions and we are on the 3cx version 16.0.5.619.
Thanka

If the email from 3CX states you need to be on update 5/6 before 15th of september and you are on update 5 then you can assume you're fine.

However, update 6 has a lot of new stuff so I would get on to that sooner rather then later.

latest is V16.0.6.641 so you always can update to latest, almost no doubt you're up to date

Regardless of whether you use 3CX FQDN or custom, the email clearly states that these are the certificates the PBX uses to to activate, and allow secure connections between your installation and our cloud services.

So make sure you are on V16 update 5 or 6 before that date, and you will be perfectly fine.

Also, is this mail regarding hosted pbx or does the "on-premise " installs also have to check this?

This detail is entirely irrelevant

Thank you.
So i believe we are okay as we are on the v16 Update 5, version 16.0.5.619.
