Just picked up a Yealink CP920 conference phone that sits in the center of a large round table. I need to get in the center of the table to initiate the conference call, dial meeting ID and password, etc. If there is an issue and the phone disconnects, i need to hop back over the table in the middle of the meeting and reconnect the phone. I am not opposed to the exercise, but one of these days im going to faceplant and make a fool of myself :D. Is there any way to control the phone remotely? I tried to use the web app and desktop app for 3CX, but as far as i can see it only supports calling and not dialing while on a phone call. From my research, the desktop app doesn't support CTI for the CP920. What do you think? What is the best way to do this?

Smaller table? It sounds as if you need a speakerphone with a keypad that is removable from the speaker/mic unit. ..or detachable mics. Unless the table is so big (size of a tennis court) that people on the other side cannot hear the speaker when it within arms reach of you, getting the mics close to the users, so they can be heard is going to be the prime concern.

So i should clarify that although the table is large it is not anything like the size of a tennis court.

I determined the best location for audio quality was in the center space. It actually does a great job with audio pickup and i am not all that concerned with that at this point, its doing a good job where it is and with the built in mics. Being in the center, it is evenly about 5-6 feet away from each speaker at the table. Plently capable of producing desired audio quality... just out of arms reach and not easy to control.

Speakerphones are designed to be within reach of the person controlling the unit. If people are able to hear each, other across a 10 to 12 foot wide table, then they should be able to hear the speakerphone even if it is not exactly in the centre. That is why they designed units that come with with additional, remote mics, to be able to pick up participants, not close to the main unit.

If the unit is new, I would consider, attempting to return the current model, if possible, and substituting something designed for a larger table, if some people cannot be heard clearly.

I am appreciative of your replies so please do not get me wrong, but my main concern was about remote control of the telephone. The audio, speakerphone and microphone work excellently. I wouldn't change a thing about how the audio works because it just works. However, i would like to be able to dial and call a phone number remotely as well as send number codes during the call, perhaps from the moderator's computer where i usually am stationed during the conference. I know i can call from the web application, but dialing within the live call doesn't work.

For anything more than CTI mode, such as full remote control of the phone with something such as a smartphone, would require that the phone has this function available, as an option.

Not exactly the same model, but probably the same conclusion, unfortunately.

Is there an audio issue, if you move the set closer to yourself (not right in the middle of the table), to be within your reach?

Audio doesn't seem to be an issue. I'd like to see a feature like this maybe the 3cx gods would be kind enough to consider?
