Our staff are using the desktop and mobile apps more often now - which is good, but I am getting feedback that people don't like it when they're out of the office and their mobile phone rings because a ringall group has timed out and their extension is in a larger group that rings after it. I can understand this frustration.

Currently the only options people seem to have for solving this is either to change their status which then prevents their deskphone from working, or to untick the account in the 3CX app. The latter is the more acceptable one since forgetting to enable the account again at least means that the deskphone isn't affected, but it's still a bit fiddly.

How is everybody else tackling this? Do you just limit softphone usage to people with their own DDIs who aren't in any ring groups? Open to all ideas/workarounds etc.

If they can complain, they can learn to change their status :). Otherwise separate extensions for the app vs deskphone.

I considered that but having two potential numbers to get hold of someone depending on whether they're at their desk or not...might as well just bounce calls out to their mobile numbers at that point.
