Solved replace SSL cert on Linux

Latest Linux install. My custom SSL cert has expired since installation. How do I replace with new?

Whatever ones you or the pbxexpress set at install time.

Well. The recommended method is to use the 3cx issued domains and certificates. That is completely automatic and part of your licence. I think its awesome

Except our staff would be more comfortable seeing our domain. I'm sure we're not the only ones.

I hear you. But we have hundreds of installs, and not one complaint yet

Maybe because they don't know there's an alternative. But I can tell you folks here would think it looked amateurish if we couldn't use our domain. I see both sides. But again, just include the ability to add a cert in UI given you can add it during installation. Problem solved and just easier than SSHing into the server. Thanks for the help.

Hmm.. last time I checked there are a lot of cloud services (Salesforce for example) that use only their name or setup customers as a subdomain of the services domain much like 3CX does. I wouldn't exactly call those services amateurish.I'm in the same boat as @Nick W where we have all of our installs under 3CX FQDNs with no complaints. Now based on your tag as a customer and ours as partners/resellers we have different perspectives.


I doubt you will ever see a UI for managing custom SSL certificates. 3CX encourages the use of the system as designed so there's zero benefit to making a UI to encourage deviation from that path. If folks really want to use their own FQDN the ability to configure is there along with instructions.

You're right, a different perspective. Our device is on premises and just like all our other servers and services, we use our own domain and SSL certs. I would see it differently if 3CX provided a hosted PBX solution, which they do not. As for the cert, the installation wizard provides for adding a custom cert, so really no reason they can't include that functionality in the management UI. But either way, I took care of it manually as the instructions detailed.
