Replacing 32 SC Perpetual PRO to 16 SC STD - Network Error 401

Hi everyone,

I am assisting a client replace a 32 SC PRO Perpetual which is expiring in 6 days to a 16 SC STD Annual.

We are getting a Error 401 "A networking problem has occurred while activating your license key" when using the "Replace License Key" on the license setting page.

Does the 3CX server require other application ports to communicate with the licensing server for the activation?

Is the PBX passing the firewall test and what are the DNS servers?
And what version of 3CX?

In addition to the info @kieferschild requested can you confirm if any of the two are an NFR or Free key?

I purchased the key from my distributor.

Re: the firewall test. Let me coordinate with the client and come back with the results.

The firewall checker will not actually check anything related to the communication with our activation servers. If you can run it though it will at least give us an indication on whether most of the 3CX required ports are forwarded correctly.

What I think you should consider next is what version the 3CX PBX is and what version the License Key you are trying to use is. If for instance the PBX is v16 (check in Dashboard >> Information >> License/Version) and the License Key is v18 then you will get that error when trying to replace the key due to version incompatibility.

Ok, this appears to be the issue. The version of the new license key is v18.

Also if you have a 32 Perpetual license that is expiring, you can trade it in for a free 1 year annual license (of same edition and SC). The trade-in also may not work on v16, you may have to go up to v18 for that to function.
