Hello 3CX Support,

I hope this message finds you well

I am reaching out to seek assistance regarding a recent update in the 3CX system that has impacted the QR codes for extensions in our setup

Previously, our configuration allowed for QR codes to be valid indefinitely, and these codes were used in a permanent format (engraved on metal plates) to facilitate ease of use for guests in various locations. However, with the recent change enforcing a short validity period for QR codes due to security concerns, this has created significant challenges

We were not informed in advance about this change and are currently looking for a solution or workaround. Could you please provide guidance on how we might address this issue, or if there is a possibility to revert to the previous setting?

Your assistance in resolving this matter would be greatly appreciated

Thank you for your support!

Whats the scenario for using? Part of the hardening of 3CX security..

This was done for security reasons.

There will be no going back to the old way of doing things.

I'm also curious to see what the scenario is.

Thanks for the feedback!

The scenario is that instead of guests using SIP phones in the hotel rooms, they use their smartphones, which can only be accessed via the WiFi of said hotel. It saves costs of buying 100 of SIP desk phones and the guests being able to make calls to reception or restaurant for room service etc.

My recommendation would be to create a QR code based on the URL of a click2chat. This way they wont have to download the 3CX mobile app.

Alternatively have them scan the QR code during check in. The receptionist can bring it up on the screen and scan the QR code for the guest.

Thank you. I will suggest this to them

Can I create an account to only have access to the admin section only to check QR codes(Not make any changes)?

Kind regards

PS: A popular idea does not guarantee that it will be developed... It also depends on whether it aligns with 3CX's vision of their profit, feasibility, and the actual impact that such a feature would bring.
