Hello

I wasn't aware of this (unjust, in my opinion) update that you cant add/remove more than 10 users or autoprovision the ip phones.
is there any way, since i am just a few days from the update, to revert back to update 9 for my licence?

thank you.

4SC Basic is our free tier edition which does not support ip phones and is capped to maximum 10 users.
To add more users and/or provision IP phones, an upgrade to 8SC instantly unlocks these option.

Yes i know that, now, but I wish i knew it before.
what i am asking is wheteher i can downgrade somehow my system since i am just a few days form the update.

Maybe, but eventually the license will be unable to activate so you can’t stay on it. (Also security updates)

Where is yours hosted? Restore a full image backup? The downloadable ISO may still be u9 because 20 isn’t released yet so you might be able to install that and restore a backup from before.

Or just get a 4 SC (from partner) or 8 SC license. Pro if you need desk phones.

Hi and thanks for the response.

My system is hosted on-premise and it's Debian. V.20 update 10. My best guess is that my backup, which is automatic, has been upgraded as well to update 10 since the next day of the update.

if you can provide a solution and get me back to update 9, I would appreciate it very much.

Also, about this option of getting a 4 SC from a partner, could you elaborate more? is it different from downloading directly from the 3CX site v.20 update 10 ?

again thank you all for your ideas and solutions.

Update 10 was not installed automatically; you must have done that yourself. Regardless, reverting to Update 9 doesn't make much sense. It won't provide a permanent solution to your license issue. As a 3CX partner, one can issue a 4SC Pro license—a specific type of license not otherwise available directly from 3CX. That is what was meant by that.

Now I have unchecked the auto-update option.
with previous update i hope i can add back my 2-3 more users i need and also my IP phones will have auto-provisioning enabled again.

so in my case, yes, it does make a difference.
I also have no problem reverting to v.18 if that would help me keep basic functionality as it used to.

There is no way to go to v18. Its not the version that is restricting your users, its your licence.

If I had stayed on V18 (or previous v.20) and skipped all updates, would my existing users/extensions and autoprovisioning have kept working exactly as they were?

The system would've stopped working eventually.

If all you want is something free, then use something else.

No, because your licence cant be activated from older versions. The server will then stop working altogether. You won’t get everything for free with 3CX.

So what's the use of the free edition if you take all functionality out? why offer this in the first place?
I dont mind keeping an old system but every now and then 3CX takes something out from the free tier

With regard to: "If all you want is something free, then use something else." I believe this is my decision and don't appreciate being pushed into such methods to get a licence. I have done this in the past, bought a 3CX perpetual licence, which was converted to annual without anyone providing an alternative. I would have no issue keeping my old system running.

if you have something positive to contribute to my issue, please do so.

Thank you.

The free version of 3CX offers quite a lot. It is perfectly normal for the range of features to be subject to change. If you want access to the full set of features, your only option is the paid version. Which, considering everything it includes, is actually very reasonably priced.
