Hi,

How are you supposed to access a ring group's voicemail from a handset? Instructions to access a different mailbox is to press hash and the enter the extension number but this doesn't work. Just get a message saying the pin number is invalid.

Are the steps different for Startup?

Ring groups do not have voicemail, just users

Hi @Scott EIT,

In regards to your inquiry, you cannot access the voicemail box of a Ring Group on a dedicated instance either.

In case you set the destination to be the voicemail box of the Ring Group, when a voicemail is left, an email will be sent to the extensions that are part of the Ring Group with the voicemail attached.

Thanks George. Is there any way to have a global voicemail so it's accessible from all extensions?

Is there any way to upload a .wav file to an extensions vm greeting message?

You cannot upload a wav file to change voicemail greeting of the extension, but you can access the voicemail menu and record a new voicemail greeting for the extension.

You can create another extension, and direct the call to that voicemail. Use an email address that delivers to everyone in the ring group if desired. They can log in to x999 with that extension's PIN.

Thanks Steve, but what's the step for logging into another extension? Everything I've read says press # then the extension number. As soon as you press #, the operator tells you your pin is invalid.

Call the voicemail extension, by default 999, then don’t enter a PIN as prompted, just press #.

That's exactly what we do, but still told the pin is invalid!

I encourage you to take a look at our 3CX Voicemail Manager tool. It includes advanced group voicemail capabilities including turning on the MWI on your phone, and if anyone in the group listens to the voicemail, it turns off the MWI for everyone in the group. You can also access the voicemails (original or archived) from a simple web interface rather than fight with logging into the 3CX voicemail system from your phone :)

@VoIPTools This is StartUP, though.

@Scott EIT Sorry I was answering your post not circling my brain back to your original post. Not sure then, I haven't used StartUP but have been gathering a (long) list of its limitations. I suppose it's possible 3CX disallows logins if multiple tenants are on the same server, perhaps someone can confirm.

Thanks, appreciate the info but the end user wants to be able to access one extensions voicemail from another extension. Should be simple enough surely!

Thanks Steve. I've been made well aware of some of the limitations of Startup over the past couple of weeks. Unfortunately the horse has bolted and I've already sold it to a couple of clients. The main bugbear is the conflicting information I'm receiving, both on here and from 3CX themselves. I'm not sure anyone knows what functions should and shouldn't work!

As Steve says, if someone can confirm if this is a feature or not I can move on.

Cheers!
