Hi all...

Doing some testing with the Teams/3CX integration. It works! Looking forward to further development.

Question.

If we are slowly rolling companies over to 3CX and using the integration as a stepping stone, how can I route calls to other 3CX extensions while keeping the normal Teams telephony functions?

Teams & 3CX are working - SBC is happy and alive

  • User1 - Has Teams assigned telephone # / Microsoft PSTN and can make/receive calls as normal.

  • User2 - 3CX only - extension 5555 (example)

  • User1 wants to dial 5555 to ring User2. How can this happen?

The direct routing and all the MS stuff is poorly (IMO) laid out and not very straight forward.

Hi!

This would probably by a questions best asked on the Microsoft Forum, but, I would think that you need to adjust the Voice Routes so that the pattern of the numbers that you DON'T want to be routed over 3CX be excluded.

If you want my advice/personal opinion though, if you are looking for an intermediate solution, I would have them use 2 clients in parallel, the Teams and the 3CX Desktop App, and when they are ready to go all in, do the integration.
You never know! By that time, they may have even decided to ditch Teams all together and save on a bit of $$$!

You just need to call 5555 from the Teams and it should ring the User2. Unless you configured it manually instead of using the 3CX-provided scripts.

I'm not sure that works when User1 is on MS PSTN and has a MS assigned DID - has the domestic calling plan license as well.
What could I do to allow User1 to dial extensions and retain the MS PSTN usage?

In this case, don't use Teams and 3CX together.

It's either 3CX Direct Routing, which gives external calling anyway, or use Teams completely.

Having both like this would make the integration break, as the Teams MS DID is not compatible with the way the 3CX integration works.

Can someone from 3CX clarify if this is possible?

Can you route certain calls to the SBC while retaining the MS domestic calling plan / MS PSTN for a user?

As said above, as far as I know, Direct Routing CANNOT be used in conjonction with a Calling Plan. The calling policy is not the same at all, as are the voice routes.

Microsoft would probably be a better place to ask this tho.

Hi

no, this is not possible as you cannot creat the link into 3CX or configure the voice route while having a calling plan attached. For testing, license a test user with an F1 plan and add the add-on. If satisfied cancel the calling plan and switch over.

Another option is to remove all calling from teams and just do it in 3CX. It’s a business decision to make how you like to handle calling… we support them both :-)
