Routing emergancy calls by source (IP)

Hi all, long time listener, first time caller. Loving 3CX so far

I wish to route emergency calls to different places depending on the location (IP address) of the caller but can't see if this is possible or not?

We are on a secure site (in the UK) meaning that the site has it's own emergency services number. Not an issue. I've set up the emergency numbers to strip all digits and dial the site emergency number.

This works great except for people offsite that are working from home. I don't like that they can't dial 999 from their work phone (they obviously can but it'll go to the office site emergency number) which isn't ideal. Currently we have to have a policy that staff use their mobile phones to call emergency services if they aren't in the office

I'm afraid that it won't be possible to route emergency calls via IP. What you could do is create two groups - Work from home and At Work or some such. Create new extensions for the "Work from home" group and route all DND info from the At Work extensions to the corresponding Work from home extensions. This means when your users go home they log into a different extension. This allows you to create 2 emergency rules, one that routes to your internal emergency number and another for the Work from home group that routes to the general emergency number where they'll be able to provide their address.

Thank you for confirming. There is nothing worse than spending time trying to do something that just isn't possible.

It's a nice suggestion (to use groups and double extensions) but that won't really work for people that have the app on their mobile phones (me). A lot of our staff that are using the webclient staying logged in via a pinned browser tab; I don't think they will login and out each time they change locations :-(

What would be the most useful way to request this feature please. I'm sure it's not that high on the priority list but as more companies move to hybrid working it will certainly become more required.

I encourage you to take a look at our 3CX Emergency Notifier tool. We have a lot of additional features, but one includes the ability to set your location based on IP address. If you move a phone (or laptop) from one location to another, it will automatically change the location of the extension.
