Hello,

I have added a new trunk today for Dataphone and entered in all the details but it is still showing as un-registered.

Will it register automatically?

tried refresh registration.

Hi Andy,

Check if the trunk is on the supported list:
https://www.3cx.com/partners/sip-trunks/

If it is not registering then it will most likely be something to do with the credentials you are using (unless of course your firewall is blocking the outbound requests from you PBX, which is less likely).

Check with your provider to see if they are seeing any inbound requests.

Hello @Andy Veal

First step is to make sure that the firewall checker passes the tests successfully.
Then make sure that you are using the correct template to add the trunk. Validate that the information you are given are correct. You will a username and password to register the trunk. Also make sure that the IP you were given matches the one included in the template. If it doesn't you might need to change it.
If it still does not register check the Event and Activity log for any clues as to what the issue is. If all fail then you can call the provider and ask them if they are seeing any registration attempts and if they do why the trunk is not registered.

DNS error resolving FQDN, or service is not available.

This is what I see in the activity log.

The trunk is supported and im using the template that has been tested by 3cx.

Not changing much but entering the sip id and password I was provided.

Firewall tests pass.

Tried pinging sip.dataphone.co.za but request timed out
Pinged the IP from the template and no response, all packets lost

The provider probably blocks ping requests as i am getting the same result when pinging the IP.
But i can confirm the IP in the template is working as i can register an account to that IP with no problem. You could run a wireshark capture and check the response you re getting when the PBX tries to register
