Same area code but mixing with local calls and long distance call dialing.

Hi;

I am in Vancouver, BC, the common local area code of BC is 236,778,604. We need dial 10 digits to complete dialing, e.g 6041234567.

And to make a call from desktop phone, we need to dial "96041234567".

In this case, the "Calls to numbers with a length of" should be "10" or "11" ?

Do I need specify digit "9" in "Calls to number starting with (Prefix)" ?

Also, in some area, the area code 604 and 778 will be counted as long distance call, in this case; how can I distinct the settings?

For example; phone number 604-123-4567 is an absolutely local call, no long distance call required.

another phone number 604-888-2323, same area code but long distance call required.

Same scenario can be found in area code 778.

How you specify your outbound rules is up to you and what you need to achieve. Note that you can have multiple outbound rules and that outbound rules are evaluated from top to bottom. If the PBX finds a matching outbound rule it will use that and will not move on to the next one.

If you are dialling the number using 11 digits including the prefix then you need to specify 11 and strip the extra digit in the outbound rule.

I should add, that if your provider does not require a "1" before a long distance number, then you will not be able to differentiate between a local call and a long distance call to the same areacode, without creating a rule for every NPANXX combination.
