From my understanding the 3CX SBC as of yet does not support presence when deployed using a debian 9 SBC (planning on using 15 yealink phones on a cloud server) but all other features work. Using STUN this limitation goes away.
Any recommendations from those using SBC's or considerations I should take into account ? (or has the presence limitation been fixed and no longer a issue?)
Thank you

You will be able to prove your SBC and 3CX tunnel is connected via a few ways, albeit there is not an indicator in the console to show red/green as per the request on the ideas site:

* The phones list will show a phone in bold text with the text "sbc" behind it. This is a good indication that the tunnel is up, however the phone is not at the point of being fully registered or provisioned yet.

* 3CX Tunnel logs. In the verbose logging/support info file off of 3CX you will be able to tell if the tunnel is connected.

* A simple check to see if the SBC is running also is (if using Windows) check the Windows services section for status (if using Linux or Raspberry pi) using the command "service 3cxsbc status".

Is anyone using Edgewater Edgemark devices as SBC's for 3CX? Will those units allow me to provide presence information that is missing? I realize the added cost but the situation is these are far off installs and if something goes wrong all I am able to do is ask a customer to do factory resets.

We are a distribution partner for Edgewater networks (recently acquired by Ribbon Communications).

They are fantastic products and give full visibility of your entire voice path and stats etc.

With that being said it might be a bit overkill to use them with 3CX as they are more aimed at large hosted platforms such as Centile, Ribbons Kandy platform and Broadsoft.

I use the EdgeWater 2900 series with every hosted customer. Works great, I also use the management platform so I can do packet captures from the customer premise when necessary. Plus I get the call analytics so I can see what is going on at each customer site. $25 a month includes hardware, licensing and management portal, can't beat the value of not having to go on site when the customer calls!

So everyone else had a different interpretation of your question than I did. People seem to think you are talking about the visibility of the SBC itself as presence. I read that as you were talking about presence from a 3CX perspective (being able to see the status of other extensions, BLF, etc). Which interpretation is correct?

That was my interpretation as well. Being able to see to phone "maintenance traffic" between hosted and premise, etc. No issues with the 2900 series.

Hah.. I guess technically that's a 3rd interpretation, being able to see the SIP traffic which would be harder to do with the tunnel.
