Hi all,

Am looking at implementing an SBC cluster at a new installation. The document for setup describes pre-requisite of "be two (2) PCs or Raspberry Pis with the same Debian or Raspbian (9/Stretch) Linux version and updates"

Does anyone know, or can they clarify, is it possible to set up between a Debian VM and a Debian Raspberry Pi? That way we get some form of hardware redundancy if the virtualisation host were to go offline.

Thanks in advance

Adrian

Hi Adrian,

this can be done manually in theory, but needs more sophisticated (and thus more error-prone) approach.
That's why we took the safe path and request both nodes to be of the same "breed".

Possible? Yes. Supported, no.

Thank you both. Maybe we'll just keep a Pi or a VM on standby and switch it on when required.

Thanks for clarifying
