SBC Upgrade (Debian)

I'm scheduling in our SBC upgrades.

It feels like it should be a quick upgrade (bare metal, nothing has ever touched our SBCs except a 3CX iso).

I'm guessing it's fairly fast (given an install from scratch is pretty fast), but can anyone advise roughly how much downtime to expect per upgrade?

I'm trying to work out if this is a quick one I can sneak in early morning before anyone else arrives, or if I should do it after hours.

That would all depend on how early or late you want to work.
It normally take me about 15 min, just be sure to assign the same IP, that way all phones will connect as soon as it is done.

I this is just an upgrade for the SBC Software, you can just ssh as root and run this, downtime less than a min

@Lee Cramman I've done two, both in Hyper-V VMs. It probably depends on resources allocated, download speed, etc. but I would allow 45+ minutes based on my experience.

45 minutes to upgrade an sbc? Thats maybe 1-2 minutes.

I think you're describing different things, a reinstall and an upgrade.

I'd kind of assumed somewhere between the two times suggested for an upgrade. I would agree a couple of minutes for a normal upgrade, but doesn't this update include a distribution upgrade which can take a little longer?

Similarly, I'd allow 45 mins to build a new SBC, but that sounds like a long time for an upgrade (and all settings should be remembered, so I don't expect to need to set / remember IPs).

Half an hour per SBC is probably my safe limit to do them in normal hours, any more and I'll do it after hours.

I did it by myself just yesterday. Upgrade Debian SBC was maybe 2 Minutes, but we have a fast internet connection and the hardware was also fast. Maybe for a reinstall i would take 15 minutes to be safe.
