Seeking Guidance on Assigning Multiple Caller IDs in 3CX V20

I hope this message finds you well. I'm currently navigating the configuration of our phone system using 3CX V20, and I'm keep to set up multiple Caller IDs for various departments or users. Could someone kindly provide step-by-step instructions or guidance on how to assign multiple Caller IDs specifically in 3CX V20? Your insights and assistance will be invaluable to our implementation.

When you create outbound rules, you can restrict access to the rule by group or list of extensions. When someone from the group or list makes an outbound call, it will match the rule(s) designated for the group. You can assign a different DID to each outbound rule.

If you want the caller to be able to select the desired outbound Caller ID to use, then you can dial prefixes (additional digits the user adds to the start of the phone number dialed) then have the outbound rule match based on "calls starting with...". This works reasonably well provided you do not have a large number of DIDs.

If you have a large number of DIDs a user can chose from, then you might want to take a look at our "3CX Caller ID" tool. This tool makes it easy for the user to select the desired Caller ID number from a pre-defined list of DIDs. And you can name the phone numbers to make selecting the right DID simple. For example, you could name a DID "California, Sacramento". Then they just pick the desired location rather than having to memorize what number belongs to what geographic location. Alternatively, you might name the DID a business name like "VoIPTools" or "3CX" if you wanted to call out as if from a specific company.
