Hello,

in some cases I would like to send my DID with my number when making outbound calls, so that people can reach me directly.

In other cases I would like to send our general number without DID, so when people call back, they reach the office.

Is there a way to switch the outbound number easily within the 3CX Webclient? Or make it based on the status or something?

Best regards
Dominik

You cannot change the Outbound Caller ID by switching profile status but you do have a couple of other options:

• Since you can force an Outbound Caller ID on the Outbound Rule level, what you can do is create an Outbound Rule that requires a certain prefix and that forces the desired Outbound Caller ID. That way, the extension can make the outbound call using that prefix (eg 777) and can therefore use that Outbound Caller ID on demand.

• Another way would be to provide the extension with Management Console access and only allow it to modify it's own extension number. The user will then be able to login and change his/her Outbound Caller ID as preferred.

The prefix/outbound rule approach is appropriate for a couple of people, but does not scale well if you have a large number of extensions. That would result in a large number of outbound rules.

Alternatively, you could look at our 3CX Caller ID tool. It provides a simple web interface that allows you to select from a pre-defined list of phone numbers you can chose from (or you can ad-hoc a unique number). You can also easily revert back to your default number too.

It was designed for outbound call centers, but it would work equally well for individuals.

If it is simply a matter of choosing between your main number, and an extensions DID, then you would require one alternative rule, that could be used by everyone. If you currently use 9+ to dial an outside call, then that rule could send your main number, as the default.

Create a second rule that uses 8+ to not add the main number, and allow your DID to be sent. You would then use that, if you wanted the person to call you back directly.
