Session Border Control - SBC - best practice for installations

I know many will say "a Raspberry Pi". We've looked and it seems to make good sense. I've seen Linux devices run for years (literally) without intervention!
However, asking community....
Any reason why not on Windows Server Host?
Any reason why not on a Windows Server Domain Controller?
Any reason why not on a Windows Server RDS?

Setting up a new instance - Hosted. SBC is new for us yet sounds relatively simple.
3CX don't advise on best practice for the SBC.
Do people out there want to give an opinion and why?

You can use Windows Server Host as long as there is nothing else installed on it and it's being used entirely for the SBC. For that reason, I don't recommend Windows Server Domain Controller or Server RDS.

You can also run it as Linux under Hyper-V. Since 3CX doesn't upgrade the OS for SBCs that makes it easy to stop the old VM and install new with the same IP.

I think the main reason for Windows vs. Linux is simply cost.

Obviously, if you're running a hyperv server and you're only using 1 VM for Windows then sure! get that 2nd VM up with Windows.

It's a preference on whatever you're happy to support. If client doesnt mind paying for Windows, then go for Windows.
