We are getting ready to deploy a fairly large amount of Yealink T23Gs. If I remember correctly, the default factory hostname is "SIP-T23G". Well, I dont want 100+ phones with the same hostname in the DHCP and it's a real pain to go into the console of each to manually edit them. I've created a custom template to set the hostname but it really, REALLY, is annoying to have all phones show up in red in the console. Isn't red also used for firmware updates?

Is there a way I can set the phone's hostname during provision in 3CX without needing a custom template? Something like ext-XXXX.

No, this is not possible. From the Management Console of 3CX we can see the extension name and number of a phone, along with the IP.

People generally don't tend to bother with DHCP settings. As long as it has an IP then everything else is configured from the management console.
