Setting up a BLF key for use with a dial code

Does anyone know if either of these situations are possible:

1. Create a speed dial on a phone, in this case a Yealink T54W, that has nothing more than *4. (This is the code for xfer to voicemail) The user wants to be able to touch that speed dial and then either dial the extension or touch a second BLF.
2. The same scenario could apply to paging. Set up a key with *9 to page and then touch that button + dial the extension or press a second BLF.

As you can see, they don't want to learn dial codes. If this is not possible, and I'm thinking it's not, does anyone see another option? I know I can set up a speed dial key with *4100 to direct the call to extension 100's voicemail but then you have to devote keys for all the BLF and all of the Xfer to vmail keys.

I'm not sure this is possible, because the speed dial actually dials the whole number, it doesn't wait until you add more digits.

I'm afraid to even suggest the webclient at this point - if the users don't want to learn a few codes

Anyway, comments aside, maybe they need a high end deskphone with an expansion module so you can give them all the shortcuts they want. They can either learn a few codes or pay to have the machine do it for them.

Thanks John, that's basically what I thought. I pointed out the webclient and they gave me the "that's fine for me but I know my users" response. Oh well, looks like multiple sidecars for the phone.
