Shared parking using a Yealink T26

I have set up shared parking on our Yealink T26 phones using BLF buttons.

I can successfully park a call. When I pick up the parked call, I can only do it when hands free (I can then pick up the handset).

If I try to pick up the call with the handset lifted up, nothing happens when I push the BLF button.

Is this how it's designed to work or is there a setting we need to change?

Upgrade the firmware on the phone. This is a phone issue and not 3cx.
