Hi

My sip provider has provided the below information to use their service.

PBX IP Peer IP Subnet Mask Gateway

so it appears that i have to do some routing within the 3CX software but I do know where it need to place this infomration in order to make and receive calls outside numbers.

Can someone assist me with this ?

The SIP provider has provided an ONT device and ported the SIP on one of the ports.

Are they assuming that you are using a second NIC to connect direct to a device that they have supplied? Who is your provider, perhaps others have some experience with them.

Quick search for 'ONT' , brings up Optical Network Terminal. This is just the termination box for your SIP provider.

You need to connect this to a router to be able to access the services on the unit.

You probably have two options

1. Do you already have a router ?, If so do you have any free wan ports on it ?

2. Connect the device directly to the 3CX server using a second network card.

Check out network configurations approved by 3CX - https://www.3cx.com/blog/docs/network-configurations-supported-3cx-phone-system/

I have a managed switch, do you think i can configure either a vlan or a single port in a manner to achive this ? As i think that opition two would be the easier ( i think)

If you are not certain if you can achieve the desired set-up, it sounds as if you should be contacting/contracting someone, to help configure your network, or, a local 3CX partner, to assist with the installation.

I agree but that would not help me to understand or to expand my knowledge base or to do better. So if you have more input that would help me to do better, please share with me

You say you have a managed switch...who manages it? Did someone just come in, install everything, then walk away? You are probably going to require someone that is familiar with the hardware at your location, make and models of which, have not been mentioned.

You say you have a managed switch, and an ONT device, that's about it. Not a lot of information to go on.

What I'm sensing, is that you have bitten off a more than you can chew, but are reluctant to bring in someone to assist.

There may very well be someone on the forum that can help you, but not without more information.

I am not relucant hence i'm asking for help with this 3CX installation and set up. I could always go back to the other PBX i've used which were alot easier and more straight forward. Leejor, experince is a very effective teacher and if you're not going share your experince or seek to assist me with this issue please, keep your unrequested opinon to yourself.

I see that you've sent an impressive amount of messages which would lead me to believe that you either have a lot of exprience with 3CX and have actually helped ppl or you're a troll suffering with the dunning kruger effect.

so please, if your intention is not to help please.........

I knew you were awesome !

  • 3CX Version,
  • Enterprise Annual
    Version Number16.0.493

  • Server OS - Windows 10 os
  • Is the 3CX Server Hosted and where? - Local
  • Provisioning Method: - Local
  • Trunk Provider - Cable & wireless
  • Has the Firewall Checker passed: NO
  • Are custom Phone Templates being used: NO
  • Managed switch - Plant GS-4210-48P4S
  • The ONT was prodvided by the SIP provider as i also get internet from them as well. They've provished one port for data and the other for the SIP

what is the setup for internet access, as you say the same company provides this service - what hardware is involved.

You probably need to replicate this setup - but we need more info on your internet setup

And who is your SIP provider? They may have provisioned one port for SIP but that doesn't mean that the port has a public IP (for FQDN), or that all of the necessary ports are open. . If you list the provider, someone else may also use them, and may be able to help you with the configuration. It will also help if the provider is one that has been tested with (template available) 3CX.
