I am trying to use a Generic SIP trunk setup and it requires me to specify authentication, but I thought SIP trunks worked by IP address. How can I turn this off so as to not send authentication information to my SIP trunk provider.

Hello mmmelvin

Not all sip trunks work that way, it depends on who your provider
is & how they run there network. What provider you are using???

You can just specify a unique authentication ID , this is required by the system but will not be used for authentication. The password itself can be left blank.

I am using Bandwidth.com for a SIP trunk provider and I will try the next suggestion as well and let you know. Wondering if anyone else has used this provider?

You can not use that provider, you must use a supported one such as Nexvortex, Broadvox, Call centric and others....

I have chosen another provider. Thanks for your help.
