Good day experts

I did a verbose debug i made an incoming call and i get an error 407
In my configs there is no authentication required for the SIP trunk its just bare IP address.
Attached is the trace from the service provider.

I will appreciate any input from you experts14288

Error 407 Proxy Authentication Required – Request needs user's authentication.

Agreed, when something like a REGISTER is sent a 407 Proxy Authentication Required is returned to request user credentials. If this fails then probably your authentication details are incorrect.

What exactly is the problem you are having ?

The issue is i was not given any log in credentials by the ITSP.

My authentication is like " Do not require - IP Based"

So who needs to authenticate who here?

OK if you are IP based (and your provider is not one of the rare ones that wants a Public IP and username and password) then chances are that the IP you are sending is either incorrect due to local network setup, or incorrectly set on the provider platform/trunk.

Is this an incoming call to your PBX and the PBX replies back to the provider with a 407?

In this case you probably have no call source identification. If an incoming call comes into 3CX and it does not match it to any of its trunks, it may respond this way to the provider.

@ JohnS_3CX..

This is an incoming call to my PBX. I am the one responding to the ITSP with that error.

I have trunks set up to receive the call incoming to extension 1000 on my side i have extensions associated when someone presses 1 or 2 or 3 to go to extension 1001.

Please clarify on this " have no call source identification "
I will appreciate any pointers on troubleshooting this and link or URL that can help me thanks in advance.

Sure,

So when a provider sends you a call, the PBX must match it with something in your trunk settings. So it has to perform some checks, for example:

- Is this call for me?
- Does it have any of my DIDs in the "To:" section?
- Can I identify the source of this call before I send it to an extension?

Look at the invite coming from your provider in the "To: 4xxx000@10.20.33.4"
Does your trunk have the number 4xxx000 configured as a DID for example?
Where does your Trunk read the information to decide if the call belongs to it?

This article will help you learn about Call Source Identification and answer the above question.
Then you will look at what your provider sends, and make changes to your trunk settings to make it match.

I have read this article and i have configure my trunk with the numbers as stated i still get the same error what am i missing here?

Even in the first time arround i configured as per document. I can see from my verbose debug that am rejecting the ITSP with error 407

@John thanks I will revert with findings i will share my findings and i will put detailed configs that i have
