HI guys.

I'm trying to forward to a mobile phone which works but whatever we try we don't get the extension caller id settings on the forwarded call.
It keeps choosing the main trunk number.

The extension has a mobile and extension caller id set.

The outbound settings on the from user part is set to:
Outbound caller Id taken from Extension settings in management console

I've tried multiple versions but on the outbound call from 3cx to the carrier we never get the userpart of the from to be correct.

ANy tips?

Are you using a supported SIP trunking provider?
Have you checked with your provider to see if they are forcing the trunk number as the caller id?
Have you asked your provider which field they are looking for the caller-id so you know what field to set instead of just trying blindly?

Hi @cobaltit, the carrier is irrelevant here because the outbound call from 3cx is not doing what I want. So what we are sending to carrier is not what I expect us to send.

Yes it is related to trunk settings, but those can be adjust any way I want. I can add a generic trunk and just play with the outbound settings on the trunk.

The thing I'm trying to understand is why the setting " Outbound caller Id taken from Extension settings in management console" is not used when I'm doing a DND forward to an external number.

So you've confirmed via wireshark/verbose logging that the desired callerid is not in ANY field in the SIP header?

Yes. We have the full output of 3CX with full pcap and rtp as we use voipmonitor in our network.

I do recall form past posts, that they type of call forwarding (no answer/DND) may make a difference in what caller ID is sent. I can't confirm whether or not this has changed in recent versions.

What is your exact call scenario? The call goes to an extension that is Available and it rings and once it times out it is forwarded out or the extension is Away or DND?
There is a difference between these 2 scenarios and how they are treated by the PBX. If the call gets forwarded immediately like it happens in the Away or DND status then your scenario should work. If it rings the extension then its an entire different process and the main trunk number will be sent.

HI @YiannisH_3CX in this case, the user is available with a 1 second timeout.
I'll try with a DND status and report back.

No we understand the difference how calls are treated by the PBX.

If the call gets forwarded immediately like it happens in the Away, DND or Business Trip status then the Caller ID from the extension is displayed, when set.

If it rings the extension and times out and is forwarded like it happens in the Available or Lunch status, the main trunk number will be sent. Or when an outbound caller ID is set on the trunk, this will be send.

Thanks for your answers.
