Hello,
I recently added a twilio SIP trunk for SMS messages to support line. I used 'auto setup'. The trunk is working, and I can send a receive messages, but I am a little lost with how to configure the incoming and outbound routing. For some reason, incoming sms is just coming to my extension, even though I have the sip trunk default route set to a ring group. If I try to call the sms number, it rings, but says call cannot be completed. Log shows error 30051. But I dont really need incoming calls to work. just bidirectional SMS
my questions,
1. I would like incoming SMS to get sent to a ring group. So all the users (about 10-15) get the message. Is that possible? If not, what would be the best way to get to handle this scenario? incoming SMS to a support group.
2. Is there anyway 3CX can forward the incoming sms to an email address?

Any suggestions? Thanks in advance!

Are you sure 3CX is set up to receive the correct number?

For example, your SIP trunk only specifies the leading 0 and not country code? +44 instead of 0?

have you defined both in your SIP Trunk?

Regarding incoming SMS routing, please note that while SMS is not handled in the same way as voice calls, you can achieve your desired behavior using a Digital Receptionist (IVR).

For this, navigate to Admin > Call Handling and create a new IVR. Assign your desired DID to it for you to manage the calls as you like. Once done, under the Options tab, you will find the 'Forward SMS' setting, where you can select the desired extension, such as a Ring Group, for the SMS to be redirected accordingly to multiple users.

Regarding SMS to Email, there is no native option to perform this action available at the moment.

Lastly, please remember to add all your DIDs in the E164 number format within your trunks configuration to ensure correct routing.

Thanks! Since I only have one DID, I was using the main trunk number, but I didnt add that number to the DID tab.

The other issue was I was sending test messages from my cell phone, but it was linked to my 3CX extension.

After adding the DID and trying from a google voice number, it appears to be working. Thank you!
