Just wondering who else is working on setting this up? I set mine up today but it's only working in one direction.
Incoming SMS messages are not getting into 3CX and do not show up on the Logs page on the Skyetel portal. I don't know if that means they aren't getting to Skyetel or if Skyetel is rejecting them.
Outgoing SMS messages are working for my test so I got some part of this right.
Any other ideas?
Thanks.
Regards,
Allen

Just to clarify the inbound SMS messages are not reaching skyetel? If so, then we can only suggest checking with skyetel or your mobile provider why messages aren't being received/sent

Hi Charles,
I'm not sure if they aren't reaching Skyetel. I only know they do not show up in the SMS log that is visible to me in their portal. I've got a ticket open with them so they can look from their side. I'll update you here when I learn more.
Cheers,
Allen

Hello,

I am also on this update for our DEMO System. I have confirmed Skyetel SMS logs have seen the inbound message, but I am not receiving in 3CX. Outbound seems to work instantaneously.

Yeah, at least you heard back from them. I'm still waiting for a response from Skyetel support on my ticket.

If you have access to the Tenant or Provider portal, you can see these under SMS + MMS Logs. Skyetel shows the "inbound to 3cx" sms was delivered, but it never shows up on 3CX Side.

Yes, that's the same thing I have seen. Maybe this is why they call it Alpha - or Beta now.
At least I know it's not just me.

So I am able to Send/Receive on new Beta update if SMS Conversation is initiated on 3CX.Side.
I AM NOT able to initiate a conversation from a phone number to my 3CX DID.

UPDATE: It appears to be just with my mobile number, because I had another tech use their mobile to text my 3CX DID and that is coming through. Can 3CX not re-open, or start a new conversation with a number after an existing conversation has "expired"

Are you using a trunk with SIP credential authentication?
Did you use a Toll Free DID or a local DID?

We stayed on IP Auth just because it was buggy when first introduced. We will be converting at some point.
Yes, we are registered and will be registering our tenants as we roll SMS services out for them. Given that we are happy with the functionality first.

FWIW - I can send an SMS from 3CX to my vzw mobile but if I reply from my mobile to 3CX it is not received there. It sounds like your reply does make it to the intended destination.
I cannot send from vzw to 3CX
Also, I am able to make a voice call from my vzw line to my sms enabled Skyetel DID and the call does go through.

Just to be on the same page, in v18 U5, the SMS must be configured under Sip Trunks and enable the SMS under Sip Trunk configuration SMS tab - https://www.3cx.com/docs/manual/sip-trunks/ . If previously the SMS/MMS feature was configured on U4 and you have updated the 3CX System to U5, the configuration will be located under Messaging > Facebook & SMS . You will have to remove this setup and move it under Sip Trunk.

@Allen_Miller Can you please verify the above setup ? If yes, could you please contact us via the ticketing system so we can further investigate ?

Hi Thomas,
Yes, I only first set up the messaging using the U5 handling in 3CX so I have followed the current guides.
I've got a ticket opened with 3CX from a week ago. I also opened a ticket with Skyetel a week ago. They asked me to do a test message so they could review it in their logs. It's been seven days and all I have heard is 'crickets', as we say.

IP auth or SIP registration is irrelevant for SMS. The only thing SMS cares about is the API key and the URL

If anyone is having issues with Skyetel, feel free to PM me.

Regarding your reply, let us also on the ticket with us what skytel say.

Just an update, I worked with @Allen_Miller and we were able to get SMS working

Thanks CobaltIT.
