SMTP Server - unable to send e-mails

Hi, I'm running V10 and cannot send e-mails from the 3cx system. I understand that I can't use SSL and have downloaded Softstack free SMTP server but how do I set it up to work? I have Windows Livemail 2011 on my Win 7 machine, do I need to involve this or not? What settings do I need to put in the 3cx mail settings? Plase help a frustrated newbie!
