Hi All,

We recently wanted to change a phones extension from one to another, and saw some guidance to delete the phone and reset it to factory (not sure if this is the best...?).

Once the phone has rebooted, it did not show up on the Phones list in bold to do PnP.

I have seen this more than once, and wanted to know how to make it do a PnP request so I can easily assign an extension.

Hello,

Since you are using an SBC, first check that the SBC is still online
3CX Management Console > Trunks > See your SBC in this list.

Then, you have to check the following:

1. The SBC and the phone need to be on the same network (physically and IP range-wise)
2. The network must absolutely allow multicast messages - this is a hard requirement
3. In your IP blacklist on the management console, ensure that the phone has not been blacklisted
4. Factory reset the phone again and see if it appears now

Thanks @JohnS_3CX.

SBC is up and running
The network should allow multicast, we provisioned the phones last time via PnP (new out of box)
Devices are not in IP Blacklist
Devices are on same LAN as SBC (10.0.3.0/24)
Factory reset two phones and not showing in Phones

In this case please share additional information:

  1. What firmware version does the phone have
  2. What version is your SBC (can be seen in management console)
  3. What OS version is the SBC running on?
  4. What hardware is the SBC running on?
  5. Does the SBC machine have more than 1 network interface?
  6. What version of V18 is your PBX?

Thank you again.

As below:

  1. What firmware version does the phone have? snomD717-SIP 10.1.73.16
  2. What version is your SBC (can be seen in management console)? 16.2.24
  3. What OS version is the SBC running on? Debian 10 (updated with the V18 update)
  4. What hardware is the SBC running on? Raspberry Pi
  5. Does the SBC machine have more than 1 network interface? No
  6. What version of V18 is your PBX? 18.0 (Build 314)

Ok so you will need to take care of the following as soon as you can:

  • Please update your SBC software first! - Latest stable SBC is now at version 18.0.30
  • Phone firmware also needs to be updated afterwards - Latest Snom firmware is at version 10.1.84.15

Sorry for my delay @JohnS_3CX.

I had to wait for the system to be not in use.

SBC is up to date, and phone firmware is up to date.

Restarted phone and will not show up on PnP/Phones list.

I also have another phone there we are doing, and it is also not showing.

Ok now that we are updated (SBC + firmware), and the issue still persists you will have to do some more advanced troubleshooting.

Currently it appears like your problem is something on the network blocking multicast messages.
If the Pi SBC cannot see those messages arriving, the phones will not show up in your management console.

I will reiterate some of the basics first just for confirmation, plus some additional things to check:

- The Pi must be installed on the same network as the phones
- The SBC must be updated to the latest version
- The phone firmware must also be updated to the latest version

Additionals:
- The Pi must be connected via LAN (not WiFi)
- The SBC should have a static LAN IP so the phones can always find it
- There must not be any DHCP Options setup on the LAN via your local DHCP server. If the phones see DHCP options they might not send a PnP message at all
