We have just installed a new 3cx system (60 extensions) + Yealink handsets.

I am looking at programming the softkeys on peoples phones for the commonly used things they might use and have a question.

If I use set status *30 and *31 as an example - if I type them on the keypad then its fine and the phone responds with 'status away' etc.

If I try and program a softkey then the phone display asks me the 'Type'
SpeedDial/BLF/Line/Key Event/Intercom/BLF List/Retrieve Park/URL/ACD/

What option do I select in this instance? If I select 'Key event', which seems most obvious then there is a predefined list and none of them are 'set status.'

Thanks

If you have provisioned the phones via 3CX, program the softkeys via the 3CX management console for each phone else at the next update your settings will be wiped.

BLF keys section - https://www.3cx.com/docs/manual/pbx-extension-management/#h.6gzv6nlh5rdk

for *30 or *31, you will use custom speed dial.

If you have pro or enterprise license, end users can program their own keys using the 3CX client -
https://www.3cx.com/user-manual/installation-windows/ - Show BLF side panel, highlight the key , configure. Note you have to wait for the next deskphone update, for them to appear on the phone which is every 24hrs

Hello @Ant555

As @Saqqara mentioned if you try to program the buttons from the phone then you will lose the settings after the next re-provision. You should add the buttons from the management console under extension settings / BLF. Specifically for the status change there is a "Change Status" option with all options available.
