SoftPhone Client with 3CX Boarder Control

Does the 3CX softphone client use session boarder control if it is setup?

I am planning a new setup and trying to work out the best way to do it. the plan is for a softphone only deployment with no physical phones

The client has two networks
DMZ
LAN

I am thinking of putting the 3CX server into the DMZ, the clients will be on the LAN, all LAN clients can access the DMZ.

My question is would it be best to put a SBC server in the LAN and will the softphones use SBC to connect to the server in the DMZ or will they ignore it and try to establish their own tunnel? and would they be smart enough to realize they can reach the server without going out to the internet?

I suppose it could be manually configured but typically soft phone client is either direct SIP or tunnel via the built-in tunnel mechanism.

Set ups.with no hardware are usually pretty simple and reliable since the apps tunnel out to the phone server without need for a sbc.

The client can be configured via PnP through the SBC but it will not use the SBC for its traffic as the client has its own in built tunnel is uses to communicate with the PBX. You do not actually need an SBC when you are using only 3CX clients.

Do you know in the case of a DMZ and a LAN subnet if the clients would be smart enough to find the server in the DMZ without bouncing the calls out to the internet and back?

Depends on the router, normally it would be able to do so.

It should be working correctly, from my experience Cisco manages the DMZ really well.
