When trying to use a softphone (tried with 3CX and X-Lite) connecting over the Internet I get the following where the softphone registers properly but then when trying to place a call, for example to 999 for VM or to an internal line such as 100 the call is rejected as an unknown caller. Below are the two entries - first (bottom entry) showing successful registration, second (top) showing call reject. IP addresses have been changed in this post to protect the innocent.

Any ideas? I believe I have opened all correct firewall ports.

Regards,
Mike

What build number have you installed?

version

3CX Phone System Version4.0.3205.0

If more appropriate I can post in the beta feedback forum

currently, i can suggest you to do following:
1) setup your XLite to register at FQDN, f.e. sip.yourdomain.com. Even if it doesn't exist - just make some name. it doesn't really matter if it is resolvable or not, because:
2) tell XLite to connect thru outbound proxy, which is real (externally accessible) IP:port mapping of your 3CX box.
3) in the general settings/direct sip calls set SIP domain to the exactly same value as in point 1) and restart the service.

We already fixed some bugs regarding this, so in next uploaded version it will be much easier to set up external phone. But in version you have I can not imagine another way to make it work.

Success

That worked. Thanks for your help.
