Re: Incoming Calls

Hi Brian,

First off thanks for the setup help so far and posting this information .

I configured my gateway (SPA400) 192.168.104 using the setting you posted from you screenshots:

I can get outgoing calls to work just fine , however , I get no incoming calls . I dont know its a problem on the SPA400 end of the 3CX.

In a nutshell, i've configured the Gateway and Line Settings to exactly mirror yours in 3CX , the same goes for the SPA400. I changed all the FXO port Id's to match the internal numbers on my 3CX line.

Line 1 Internal Number = 10000
FXO Port ID_1 = 10000

You mentioned something about disabling the registration for the FXO Ports, is this done in the SPA400 ? I already disabled registration for the gateway setup in 3CX.

Here is the log when I make an outgoing call:
11:35:38.906 StratLink::onHangUp Call(C:9): got Hang-Up from Ext.120; reason: BYE
11:35:24.812 CallLegImpl::onConnected Established media channel for Ln:10000@SPA400: remote=192.168.1.104:10002; local=192.168.1.105:16432
11:35:24.796 StratInOut::onConnected Call from Ext.120 to Ln:10000@SPA400 is established
11:35:24.796 CallLegImpl::onConnected Established media channel for Ext.120: remote=192.168.1.105:16432; local=192.168.1.104:10002
11:35:21.500 CallConf::onIncoming Incoming call from Ext.120 to sip:[email protected]

Incoming Call: For some reason I get no log in 3Cx for any incoming call.

Any help is appreciated, my email is [email protected] , if you have one as well I can send you my config screenshots
Thanks !

That's wierd that you can make calls but not recieve them.

Disabling the registration is done in the 3CX gateway setting, which you have done correctly.

What happens when you make an incomming call? Silence?

I have found that any changes that I need to make in my SPA400, I had to powercycle it not just reboot it for the changes to take effect. Have you tried that?

Also, are your phones registered because if they are not it will just go to the voicemail of the phone.

Hi Brian,

I got the incoming calls ! , for some reason or another it was the powercycle that did it ! . Sometimes its the most simplest solutions ! beacuse of caller Id , ( If I set it to less than two rings, I can't get caller ID data) after the third ring it disconnects.

However there is 1 other problem which I can't pinpoint. When I do make a call now , my SPA942 rings, I set the SPA400 to pick up after 2 rings

At first though this seems to be a problem with the SPA400 but theres nothing that I see in the SPA400 that could cause this . I increased the ring time in my Ring Group (ext 100) to 60seconds but the call gets terminated before that.

See Log Below:
13:21:11.609 StratInOut::onHangUp Call from Ln:10001@SPA400 to 100 has been terminated
13:21:06.328 CallConf::onIncoming Incoming call from Ln:10001@SPA400 to sip:[email protected]

Thanx !

Thats funny! I discovered that little issues when I was configuring my SPA400 to work with my SPA900. Very annoying but can't get anywhere without the old trusty powercycle.

Thats interesting with the caller ID thing, maybe that is why my calls always say anonymous. I have my SPA400 set to 0 rings.

Keep in mind that when using a Linksys 9000 PBX, any changes that you make to the PBX that require a reboot will automatically reboot the Phones for you. When you restart the 3CX PBX service, the phones usually need to be rebooted as well which can cause some strange issues if not done.

I'm not following though. What exactly is the problem you are haveing?

Brian

Hey ,
Yea caller ID is usually set to a default of two rings before it registers otherwise you will get the "Anonymous Caller" message. I never thought about resettings the phones . I think i'll try that.

The problem that i'm having is that when i call my main phone line
773-645-5221 from my cell phone I get two rings on my cell and then the third ring goes to my SPA942. However after the third ring the call disconnects unless someone picks it up.

If someone can't get to the call on the Third Ring then the call drops, not sure why the 3CX box is terminating the call, but I suspect its a proprietary linksys issue . Hopefully i'm wrong , beacuse the I just leared "The On Hold" feature on your SPA942 will also not work correctly.

This software have frustrated my too much lately, more that I'm willing to deal with. So for now I've gone back to my SPA9000 PBX which alows me to use all the feature of my phones.

Bugger, that is a shame. This is something 3cx should jump on and for sure they are interested why and what.

Can you explain why and what frustrated you? I like to know why you gone back to SPA9000 (appart from the obvious that it is made to work like that).

thanks

I agree , The SPA942 has some rich features but they're useless without the SPA9K, I was also considering other PBX Boxes , Communigate but the price is a tad bit high for my budget.

I might also revert back to the SPA9K later on tonight and might use 3CX as a backup

Yeah I know I feel the same way. The only reason that I wanted to use 3CX is because of the unified messaging aspect. The people here at my company were really looking forward to getting the voicemails in their inbox. But the payoff just wasn't high enough to deal with some of the bugs.

I really like my phones too but the message waiting light, voicemail button, among other things, wouldn't work without using the SPA9000. I will defiantely use the 3CX as a backup for now. Hopefully, when a newer build comes out it will be a little closer to being ready.

Aside from being able to use all the features of my phone, I guess the biggest was the voicemail. The prompts were not nearly functional as they should be. It seems as though some prompts were missing and is wasn't clear, as you were trying to retrieve messages, how you would logically navigate through the mailbox. The prompts didn't instruct the user well enough. At this time, that was the biggest reason for going back to the SPA9000.

Hmm,

You are not the first (and for sure not the last) raising that issue. Sounds like the workflow of the IVR needs a bit of work.

I have not start using that as yet, but will soon. My understanding is that you can record your own messages for the IVR. There was some sort of special key sequence that allowed you to do that. It is in the manual for sure.

Not sure how flexible the work flow is, but ultimately you want to be able to guide the customer the best way possible. (we all know how we DO NOT like IVR's when calling a company LOL).

Well something for 3cx to take notice of I guess.

Henk.

3cx Versus SPA9000

I'm currently using the SPA9000, with 4 users, but will soon need to add 2 local users and 2 remote users. which will mean purchasing the upgrade license for the SPA9000. I did previously use the windows based AXON PBX software, but it just wasnt stable enough, so i got the SPA9000. can anyone advise on the pros and cons of moving to 3CX from the SPA9000?

Glad to hear its working!

Just FYI we have ordered one of these devices and in future will include it for compatibility testing....

Nick,

It is working but, not really actually, there seem to be some issues with the IVR and the like. Mainly call flow I guess.

We can get the SPA400 working but what seems to happen is that users move back to the SPA9000 and SPA400 combination and using 3CX as backup scenario.

Excellent that you guys show commitment and getting and SPA400/9000 for testing. If we can get the SPA400 and SPa942 working smooth with 3cx than there is no requirement for the SPA9000 I believe and that will save the users a fair bit of money.

Anyway issues I see currently are:
- Not all functionality is supported without the SPA9000
--Msg waiting
--voicemail button
--and other things.
--caller ID

I think 3cx is a better alternative for SPA9000 but 3cX needs to iron out some rimples in the mean time. I am sure it can be done give it time.

Henk.

Hi Hank

you use SPA9000 and 3CX in the same environment? can you explain how you've done this and why you'd use 2 pbx together.

thanks

Hassan.

It is hEnk but that is ok.

Mate, i do not use a SPA9000 but have a look at http://www.jaydien.com/support/lvs_support.html and in the beginning of the posts in particular bfleishman's post.

They tried to replace a SPA9000 with 3cx.

Happy to help to get you going but bfleishman is possible a better contact.

Henk.

I hope that the device has arrived by now and we will look into this. thanks for the feedback.

Can someone post the screenshots of this or provide detailed config on this. The information on this site doesnt seem to work

It's always unfortunate in times where we have purchases a technology device but it does not serve our purposes.

Save yourself much time, energy and effort. Get a Patton unit, set it and forget it. They are miles more reliable and actually do their job as a VoIP gateway.

There's a reason Linksys purchased Supura.
