Has anyone determined a good way to route SMS messages to one person or group of people while voice calls go to another?
We have many customers that want to use their PRIMARY number as the SMS number.. However, they want a different person to monitor SMS and others to take voice calls.
At the same time, the prefer that the person on SMS duty not get voice calls.

Suggestions or workarounds are appreciated.

Regarding your question, with the release of update 6, you can route calls to an IVR and then point SMS to the destination of your choice from the admins' webclient.

Hello,

An option is available in our system to allow 3CX to route SMS to a different Extension or Queue in case you would need to have messages routed elsewhere than your voice calls.

We are a Canadian Retail and Wholesale SIP Trunk provider (16+ years) with the largest coverage in Canada & USA. We also provide SMS & MMS service for 3CX.

Contact me if you would be interested in this solution.

HI Charles,

Took me a bit to realize that you can currently ONLY do this from the "webclient", but I understated now and it is working.
Thankyou this thread was helpful as I was testing out the update 6 alpha today
Is there a plan to add this to the main admin page.

HI Charles,

I your opinion what would be the best way to route calls to one ring group but SMS to a single extension or different group? Some of my customers route calls direct to a Ring group or Call queue, but need the SMS to route elsewise, like the setting that you were just talking about for the IVR. I feel like it would make a lot of sense if the option was in the inbound rule after the call routing like just another drop down for sms routing.

Best,
JP

Hey JPVoIP,

I totally agree. I also think that this should be in the inbound rules to make everything more user-friendly.
